We use The Bee Cup right across campus which is totally free to use.

Please make sure to return your cup to any participating cafe on campus within 14 days to avoid a £5 charge. Using your own cup is also totally free. If you do need a paper cup these are charged at 50p - thank you for helping us create a more sustainable campus

All funds from these charges go towards sustainability projects including putting investment back into the scheme.

All of our takeaway cartons, boxes, cups and cutlery are Vegware, made from plants not plastic.

We only sell Fairtrade hot drinks

To help farmers build a better quality of life for their families and communities. All of our tea, coffee, hot chocolate and sugar is Fairtrade, As of 2025 we are a two star Fairtrade University

Our apple and orange juices in our cafes are also Fairtrade.

We only stock One Water who donate profits from sales to fund sustainable projects around the world.

Our food waste is regularly collected

All surplus food is collected daily and put into a Community Fridge in the Students' Union.

This fridge is open to support both students and wider members of our University community.

The range is always expanding and includes sweet treats, main meals, sandwiches, salads, breakfast pots, pies, pasties and sushi.

Reducing our carbon footprint step by step

Where we can, we work with local suppliers to reduce our carbon footprint and keep it local. Our pastries are from just down the road (Barbakan Deli) in Chorlton and our pies are supplied by HMPasties in Bolton, Greater Manchester.

All of our sandwich packaging is plastic free

And we're committed to being single use plastic free on campus. For example, all our One Water plastic bottles are 100% recycled and 100% recyclable.

We buy Free Range Milk

from a local Lancashire Dairy called Stephensons who were the first to launch Free Range Milk in the UK.
