Cooking@Manchester

We're delighted to create Cooking@Manchester a unique opportunity to learn about how to cook healthy nutritious meals from some great local chefs.

See below for upcoming events, these are all free to attend, try some great food and get free recipes following the event.

The University of Manchester, cooking@manchester and the Students' Union, in collaboration with chef, author, and MasterChef winner, Simon Wood, would like to invite all new UoM students to cooking@manchester demonstrations in our purpose-built demonstration area on the ground floor of University Place in The Market. All sessions are free, and you’ll receive a downloadable recipe pack after the session.

Back by popular demand! MasterChef champion Simon Wood returns with another “fakeaway” masterclass — showing you how to make your favourite takeaway-style dishes at home. Expect big flavours, budget-friendly recipes, and tips to save money without losing the fun of a weekend takeaway.

Free to attend. Includes recipe pack + seasoning sample.

Each one is 50 minutes long, and involve a live cooking demonstration by our chefs followed by a Q&A. All attendees will receive a take home digital pack on recipes, costing, and nutrition, and a seasoning sample relevant to the recipe. The sessions, organised by School of Natural Sciences Head of Education and culinary school graduate Prof Rob Appleby, have been designed by Simon and Rob to be accessible to all, with no prior cooking knowledge needed.
